The Ice Dragon Page

This is a more recent project for one of my early Mentors a good friend and teacher Greg Worthing.

To him and all teachers everywhere, who continue to wade through the quagmire of  abuse, racial hatred, beaurocracy, nationalism and poverty to reach a child because they see inside them some faint creative spark,

Thank you.  For believing in us.

This piece is about four feet accross and depicts the Ice Dragon emerging from a jeweled mirror. I used a small piece of oval mirror I had on hand to make the shards of  mirror.  If you look closely you can see that the pieces are angled forward to add to the illusion of  the dragon breaking through.  All of my dragons have wings, usually big ones, and he does, but as you can imagine, cramming something that big through a broken mirror has its hazards, so don't expect to see them anytime soon.  Carved from foam with light up jewel eyes,  a forehead jewel that also glows and the top spines have a yellowish glow to them as well from a yellow painted bulb just under the carapace. The paint is all shades of blue and black over white. The purple hues you see are the result of applying an irridescent coating to some areas, to give the illusion of reptilian scales.
